School Timing and Attendance

BADR INTEGRATED SCHOOL ATTENDANCE POLICY

1- ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCE

  • Badr Integrated School recognizes that daily attendance at school is essential and, therefore, establishes an attendance requirement. There is a positive correlation between regular attendance and academic achievement.
  • A student’s attendance is crucial for their success as students.
  • Students need to attend school on daily bases and be in class on time so that optimum educational benefits on their behalf can be achieved. Unexcused and/or excessive absences are unacceptable and detrimental to class instruction and the attainment of a goal-driven learning process. Consistent attendance is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Because we are concerned about your child’s safety and well-being, we ask that you notify the school via phone calls or other means, the information should be sent to the school on or before 8:00am. Failure to do this will result in the student receiving an unexcused absence from school.
  • It is imperative that families provide the school with an up-to-date telephone number. Changes in address and telephone numbers should be shared with Tract Office as soon as possible after the change takes place.
  • Any absence will be considered unexcused until appropriate verification by the parent or guardian is received and reviewed by the principal/designee.
  • An absence shall be excused when a parent/legal guardian indicates to school officials in writing that the absence resulted from one of the following reasons:
  • Personal illness (3 days, with parent verification)
  • Death in immediate family or household (4 days)
  • Professional or legal appointment (unlimited, unless there may be reason to suspect abuse)
  • Extenuating circumstances with prior approval of the principal
  • Parents will be notified with a warning letter and/or a conference may be scheduled with student’s administrator and guidance counselor or when the student accumulates excessive absence.

This will provide an opportunity for the school and family to discuss the seriousness of the absences and to open lines of communication.
